Unmanageable hair

I am a 32 year old female that has naturally curly hair that is very long. My mother has natural hair and doesn't believe in perming hair. The only chemicals that I have used in my hair is color which in turn stripped my hair. I NEED SOME HELP. I reside in Texas (humidity capitol) and if i press my hair it curls right back up. My only hair style is wearing a ponytail. Is there anything that I can to do straighten my hair some to make it more manageable without using harsh chemicals. I just want to be able to wear my hair down once in a while and comb thru it without it always tangling up and crawling. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
MY ANSWER:
To be honest Shelia, Not really. The truth is that humidity equals moisture, and moisture equals frizz (at least for our hair type). The only thing I can suggest is to use an anti-frizz serum when you straighten your hair. I suggest that you use ONLY ceramic irons ( as they are healthy for our hair) and Biosilk Silk Therapy. But because your hair is natural. I suggest that you section your hair into 4 parts, put a quarter sized portion of the serum in the palm of your hands and rub into each section. Once you have done this, go the the section that you applied the serum in first and began to straighten with a flat iron until you have completed your entire head. I also suggest that you find a stylist who is very good with the roller brush and blow dry technique. This is really good for getting your hair it's straightest.
And remember, if you get tired of trying to get your hair frizz free, you can always opt for braids. This will give your hair and you a break!
