- LaTonya Branham was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. She is the author of CultureSeek (2006) and Spirit Seek (2007). LaTonya earned a Master of Arts degree from Antioch University McGregor and a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilberforce University. She is a founding member of the Soul of the Pen Literary Group. Currently, she serves as the Senior Associate Registrar and as an adjunct professor at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. Her course subjects include First Year Experience and Multicultural Education. LaTonya and her husband, Morton, currently serve in community outreach and youth ministries. She is currently working on the second edition of CultureSeek and other writing projects.

Nannie Helen Burroughs was a businesswoman, educator, Christian leader, and writer. She is the founder of the National Trade and Professional School for Women and Girls (later re-named in her honor) in Washington, D.C. In 1975, Mayor Walter E. Washington proclaimed May 10 to be Nannie Helen Burroughs Day in the District of Columbia.
When you celebrate Women's Day at your church, remember Ms. Burroughs and her vision for women.
