Does your daddy live in the house with you?

I called my daughter yesterday to make sure that she’d gotten into the house safely. We chatted for a moment and during our conversation she said, “Daddy, the librarian asked if you live in the house with me. When I told her yes, she stared at me as if she didn’t believe you actually stayed here.”

In August of 2008 my daughter became a high school freshman. During the parent orientation I introduced myself to the principal and gave her a gift bag filled with my young adult books and contact information. I explained that I was a local author and that I’d been volunteering my time at area high schools and libraries giving seminars on writing, reading and publishing.
