Hello group,

I have been struggling to be consistant with a workout routine. I know in my mind it is the best thing to do, especially as "we" women get older. I love to walk and when I was going to the gym I loved using the eliptical. But, I work full-time and go to school full-time and working out has been hard to impliment. However, I'm determine to make it all work. So, this will be a good start for motivation and support. Take care all!

Morning to you Ms. Monnie, last week was my first time running in my neighborhood, it wasnt too bad, I just need to get familiar with my neighborhood to know where Im going, lol (new here)but I think I WILL do that, run 3x around my neighborhood, and on Saturdays do the track. Thanks for the info, its nice to kinda have a idea on how long or an example to get where you want to be, you know, so thank you Ms. Monnie :o)

i love running outside also, kay lynne. running my neighborhood is my excercise of choice, but the treadmill is a necessary tool if you live where it's cold for almost 6months of the year. it's not a lot of fun looking at the washing machine, but it gets the job done. last year i did invest in an elliptical machine and i love it! on these last few cold, rainy mornings i've been doing a 30minute circuit that burns 500calories! not to shabby, and a nice alternative to the treadmill. i really have to expand my winter workout to include some weight training also. trying to keep that metabolism pumping is definitely going to be a chore!

hey kay lynne! i had to go back to my workout journal to find out when i started running. i started run/walking my 3mile route on may 30, 2009. at that time i started by running a block, walking a block. on june 12th i was able to run one mile straight, so it took me about two weeks to build up enough endurance to do one mile of complete running. i didn't run another straight mile until june 23rd, but then i started running my first mile everyday! about mid july i added another 1/2 mile, so by then i was running the first 1.5 miles of my route, then breaking it down to running a block, walking a block. by the end of july i added another 1/2 mile, so i was up to running 2miles straight and only walking 3blocks of my entire route. the first time i ran the entire 3mile route was august 15th. so, if my calculations are correct it took me about 11-12 weeks, or 3months. remember, that was doing this route 5-6 days a week, every week for 12 weeks. i hope this helps!

Im in England and the temperature just started dropping. So I feel you on not wanting to work out. I appreciate P90X b/c its "in house" you know, but NOTHING tells you just how well you are doing or improving like running outside (atleast for me, lol). Im not a fan of the treadmill b/c when I test Im running outside on a track. For me the treadmill is the Devil, lol. because it says Im running a certain amount in a certain amount of time, then when I go outside and run, I am way off by a lot of minutes....but thats just me, so I stay AWAY from the treadmill. I know Im not looking forward to taking this test in January when it will be cold as the North Pole then :o(

Ms Monnie, I was reading through some of the post, and I read that you run 3 miles. How long did it take you to run 3 miles without stopping. My breathing sucks when it comes to running, the whole "breathe in or out your mouth then through your nose" WHO THINKS ABT THAT WHEN THEY ABT TO PASS OUT!! Or people say, after every 2 steps, inhale then exhale, or listen to music and go with the beat, I've tried it all or atleast I think I have. P90X we get a rest day, but Im going to go to the track and sprint the straight aways and walk the curves, so that will hopefully build up my endurance.

man, it's already starting to get cold here in michigan, and i'm already having trouble getting up in the mornings to get my workout in. this is the second day this week i've missed already, and i starting to get a bit concerned. it's time to start thinking about working out in the evenings, maybe. that should be a good start. is anyone else starting the feel the winter settling in and what are you doing to try and overcome?
