I know many of you are looking at that word saying"what the H" but don't... Trichoptilosis is a technical word means SPLIT ENDS.... a word that we hate to hear our stylist to say.. (I know because I am one). Since my viewing of the new Chris Rock movie GOOD HAIR, I have been wanting to put out a few pointers up for the basic hair care that wasn't really expressed in the movie ( loved the movie, you should go see it if you haven't already).. Women should do the following all the time NO MATTER WHAT!
1. Shampoo the hair regularly...(as often as needed) some of us may sweat more, workout, whatever many be the case... we should def shampoo at least 1 every 7 days
2. Watch out for the kinds of products you use.... store bought products tend to have a higher alcohol % in them.. leaving the hair dried out overtime (read the back of the bottle)...get your products from your stylist or the salon.. your hair will thank you!
3. If you are a relaxer girl (like myself) please reframe from doing your own relaxers.. this is the reason why you see breakage and dry brittle hair
4. Please note that permanant color and relaxers are not meant to go together... this may cause hair to break drastically or may result in it coming all the way out
FINALLY......
5. Keeping your ends trimmed (trichoptilosis) will promote healthy hair growth... by doing this... the hair that is already healthy stays HEALTHY... and thats what we all want HEATHLY hair!
I am from chicago..but I reside in Atlanta. Ga now... I am a stylist here now and I see sooooo many women here that are not taking care of their hair... I have learned that they do this, not because they dont want to take care of their hair...but simply because they dont know to.
