I remember going to my grandmother Betty's house for thanksgiving and i had sooooooo many cousins it was unbelievable. I'd say about 30 if I am not mistaken. Well there were so many little kids there we always had a packed house. My grand mother had 11 children and they would all bring their friends over too so count that.. Everyone in the neighborhood knew that my grand mother was the best cook around and they would all go to her house for the feast. she would cook all the food and my aunts would throw down too. My mother was the next best cook so she would alway add her flava.. That is how i learned how to cook. But the best thing is that my grandmother would hide all of her sweet potato pies and i would find them. Everyone would ask me where i got a piece of pie from and I would say None of your business. She knew i found them and then tried to find another spot but she didnt know that i saw her all the time.I was probably the only one who knew... Ha ha thats a great memory for me.

So many too choose from...however my favorite childhood memories would be our 4th of July picnics at the county fair. I remember waking up early to pack up the food, tables, etc. in order to get a good spot on the lawn. Once everything was all set up my family would relax, eat, play dominoes, eat, ride the carnival rides, eat, check out the vendors, eat and bet at the race track... well gamblig was mainly my grandma's thing. :-)

My fond childhood memories are usually triggered by some song or smell then it takes me back to a place that seems like just yesterday I was a child wishing I was grown', funny how that is. I have memories of my grandmother making Sunday dinner after church and as soon as you hit the door you could smell the roast cooking along with her homemade dinner rolls and string beans from her garden. Ummph ummph ummph............
