suggestion: better superlounge performers, tables in lounge for eating, schedule of events at hotels ( I remeber in the past checking in and there were schedules available). I would like to try having a DJ spin for an hour or two. ( just for suggestion: better super lounge performers, tables in lounge for eating, schedule of events at hotels ( I remember in the past checking in and there were schedules available). I would like to try having a DJ spin for an hour or two. ( just for dancing) Capt. Charles would spin for 15 mins by the time I got warmed up it was time for him to stop. Especially on the first night when it seems like line up is catered to the younger crowd

I like am also a native New Orleanian like Tiffany and it also makes me misty eyed to hear all the POSITIVE comments. Despite all the hardship this city has endured it still tries to uphold the southern hospitality its known for. I've been going to the Essence Fest for 15 years and to me each year it gets better. I'm happy to hear you all had a good time and if you're like me, your still recuperating but want a little more. Hope you all attend next year and keep it touch!!!

I only have 3 suggestions: better superlounge performers, random tables back in the lounges for eating, and decent bathroom for men in the floor sections (I heard some complaints about the port-a-potties).

Overall everything else was great. I was glad to be allowed to bring in my camera. The food and beverages were great, and the dome was a little cool, so I will be better prepared for next year. The only jacket I had was the one that was part of a comfortable velour set that I traveled to NO wearing (in my cool car). I am guilty of not reading the Essence Board prior to traveling. I plan to return next year as well.

Reading these postive and beautiful comments has got me crying... especially ROEg45 I'm so happy that everyone enjoyed themselves. I'm Proud to be a Native New Orleanian and through it all we still know how to provide an enjoyable event for All people to enjoy...I saw black and white people having a good time.
This has got to be my best Essence Music Festival Experience in all the 15 years I've attended and each one has been great.
You guys please come back next year!!!! :-)

So enjoyed the Essence Festival. It was so good to see so many beautiful black people together, and doing well (despite the recession). I was like What recession? lol.

Well Mrs. RoeG45 glad u enjoyed it all. It ussually is very hot during the festival every year, due to the break n the weather(n it was a break a good break). Last monday it was 98 with heat index at around 104. Usually consistantly with 100 heat index. N very hot n the shade-lol. Its to accomidate everyone. Also the units r knew so when ur dancing n drinking n eating, u have to be kool. Plus the superdome has no ventilation. It will get very hot quickly. To make u feel comfy.Thank You Nathan

This was mine and my daughter's first Essence Festival and we are both looking forward to next years! HAD A BALL! Can anybody tell me however, why they keep it so dang cold in the Superdome. Anybody else, hoping they don't get sick? lol. It was like going from outside where the temperature was set to "hell" and then going into the Artic freeze!! Thank goodness I read these boards and was forwarned but even with a throw blanket we were so dang cold. Though the concerts were EXCELLENT, the Superlounges are the spot! It's like being in an intimate club with the performer and much more personal. But most of all, the people of NO are so welcoming and so hospitable, I got the feeling for all I talked to (and there were a few) who, even though still recovering adn struggling to survive after Katrina, they would share any and everything they have with you. The spirit of those who live there shines through, no bitterness, no "whoa is me" attitude, just a thankfulness and love of gtheir city. For me that was the most memorable aspect and I look forward to returning.

2009 Essence Festival in the N.O. was EXCELLENT!!! Attended Sunday nights show and everyone was sooooo GREAT. My entire family was there we were front row center on the ground and everyone in that section had a BALL. My favorites were Lionel Richie and Frankie Beverly & Maze. Al Green is still the man, Lady "T" was amazing in fact everyone on that nights line-up was GREAT! We did not get back to the East until about 3:45 the entire family was out and we all had a wonderful time. We're from the ole school and had not been out that late at a concert in a long time. Everything from the performers to the hard workers within the doom was fantastic. Will go again next year.
