YES! I agree that talk therapy is highly effective, but I do not know that I would say as effective as medication for depression. Sometimes those lows are too low and who cares what anybody has to say.

As a preventive measure, I have experienced talking through onset depression. Praise God, I love writing, too.

But when the energy drops and suicide thoughts strengthen, talk therapy is not too effective until medicine kicks in.

Greetings My Sistahs,

It is a pleasure to be a member of this group and I look forward to growing and sharing with others.

I am the Author of the new book, "Cooling Well Water: A Collection of work By An African-American Bipolar Woman" ISBN 13 978-0-9754612-0-4. My book is now available on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Cooling-Well-Water-Collection-African-American/dp/0975461206/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1245293228&sr=8-1 and I hope everyone buys a copy as a core book to have at your fingertips because it is written by me for us.

I was recently interviewed on a local television show, too, about mental illness and if you click this link, you can watch the video: http://www.wbaltv.com/video/19810005/index.html

My book is faith-based and enables readers to also see God's presence in our lives although we have a "mental condition."

One of the things I have become very committed to is the power of dreams from a spiritual point of view. Dreams are the means by which God communicates with us in the spiritual realm on past and present matters. It is the means by which God orders our steps and promises us ways He will not forsaken us. There is much spiritual power in dreams and I believe the more we strive to live an obedient life, the more we understand our dreams and purpose.

Passing the peace,
Agnes
